Why this shape
Most Moyo travelers attempt the island as a 2-night extension from Bali — fly to Sumbawa Besar, transfer, two nights, return. They miss the rhythm.
Our 5-day shape gives the island time to register. Day 2 is the marine reserve. Day 3 is Mata Jitu. Day 4 is open — dolphin pod cruise, Princess Diana cliff, or simply unstructured beach time. The fifth day handles return logistics calmly. We have run the trip in 4 days and felt the rush.
We are an independent tour curator and are not affiliated with Aman Resorts. Read our Aman Moyo resort review for tier-specific intelligence.
Day-by-day itinerary
See the table below for the day-by-day schedule. Each day is paired with weather contingencies — Saleh Bay can have rough crossing days, particularly January-February.
Read parallel detail in our Mata Jitu trek guide and Amanwana booking guide (if you choose Reserve tier).

Three hotel tier options
Each tier includes the same itinerary, the same guides, and the same logistics. The differentiator is accommodation. Below: the three Moyo properties we work with.
We have personal relationships with each property’s reservations team. We hold soft inventory at all three. Final selection happens after our discovery call.
Three Moyo accommodation tiers — pick your level
Important: we are an independent tour curator. We are not affiliated with Aman Resorts (operator of Amanwana). The Reserve tier in our portfolio is one of three options, not a brand-portal arrangement.
| Tier | Hotel | Rate USD/night | Tagline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reserve | Amanwana | $1,850 | tented-camp luxury, marine reserve frontage |
| Atelier | Cocoteraie Moyo | $480 | boutique villa, coral garden access |
| Smart | Sea Lavender Beachfront | $180 | private beach bungalow, breakfast included |
Pricing — atelier service fee per voyage
Voyage cost is calculated as: (selected tier accommodation) + (atelier service fee). The atelier fee covers itinerary design, transfer coordination, in-country support, dietary management, surprise arrangements, and post-trip follow-up.
Atelier fee for the 5-day shape: $1,200 per voyage (regardless of tier or group size 2-6). Add accommodation: Reserve $7,400 (4 nights × $1,850), Atelier $1,920, Smart $720.
Total estimated voyage cost: Reserve ~$9,800/couple, Atelier ~$3,400/couple, Smart ~$2,200/couple. Excludes flights, gratuities, alcohol.
Why curate vs book direct
The honest answer: for a Moyo voyage at the Smart tier, direct booking is reasonable. The Sea Lavender team responds to email; the transfers can be self-arranged in Sumbawa Besar.
For Atelier and Reserve tiers the math shifts. Cocoteraie’s reservation flow is in French via WhatsApp and the property is small enough that confirmed availability changes quickly. Amanwana’s direct booking flow is fine but the brand is intentionally distant in pre-arrival communication — they assume you know what you want. Our atelier service handles the messy middle: dietary specifics, transfer choreography, Mata Jitu permit coordination (it sits inside a conservation area), and the surprise arrangements (anniversary cake at the cliff, ikat textile gift, traditional Sumbawan welcome ceremony if requested).
We never charge a markup on the property rate. The atelier fee is the only revenue we collect from your voyage.
What’s included vs excluded
Included: Sumbawa Besar airport pickup, road and speedboat transfers (one-way each direction), all activities and guides for Days 2-4, daily breakfast, Mata Jitu trek and lunch picnic, dolphin-pod boat excursion, Saleh Bay marine reserve permits, in-country emergency support 24/7, atelier itinerary design and post-trip follow-up.
Excluded: flights to/from Sumbawa Besar (we recommend Garuda Indonesia or Wings Air from DPS Bali), accommodation (priced separately per tier), lunches and dinners at Reserve and Smart tiers, gratuities to drivers and guides (~$50 per voyage), spa, alcohol, and any extension to Komodo or Bima.

Imagine waking to the gentle lapping of waves against a pristine shore, the air infused with the scent of frangipani and the distant call of exotic birds – this is the daily symphony of Moyo, an island where time slows and nature dictates the rhythm. Far removed from the well-trodden paths of Bali and Lombok, Moyo offers a profound sense of seclusion, a rare commodity in today’s travel landscape. Your private voyage is not just an itinerary; it’s an immersion into an unspoiled paradise, where every sunrise paints the sky in hues of gold and every sunset transforms the horizon into a masterpiece.
Beyond the itinerary: The Moyo magic revealed
This curated escape prioritizes genuine connection with nature and unparalleled tranquility. Unlike destinations bustling with activity, Moyo invites contemplation and rejuvenation. Whether you are gliding through crystal-clear waters, discovering vibrant coral gardens teeming with over 200 species of fish, or simply unwinding on a deserted beach, the island offers a canvas for personal discovery. The absence of mass tourism infrastructure means that even the most iconic spots, like the famed Mata Jitu waterfall, feel like your own private sanctuary, echoing with the soft rush of cascading water and the rustle of the jungle leaves.
The true magic of Moyo lies in its ability to transport you to a world untouched by the clamor of modern life. Here, luxury is defined by space, silence, and the profound beauty of your surroundings. Each moment is designed to be savored, from the gentle rocking of your private boat as you search for playful dolphin pods at sunset, to the exquisite flavors of fresh, locally sourced cuisine enjoyed under a canopy of stars. This is where personal reflection meets unparalleled natural splendor, creating memories that resonate long after you return home.
A sanctuary of biodiversity: Moyo’s natural treasures
Moyo Island, officially designated as a marine reserve, is a jewel in Indonesia’s crown, safeguarding an extraordinary array of ecosystems both above and below the waterline. The surrounding waters boast some of the most pristine coral reefs in the region, home to majestic sea turtles, reef sharks, and a kaleidoscope of smaller marine life. Diving and snorkeling here offer visibility often exceeding 30 meters, revealing intricate underwater landscapes that feel utterly untouched. On land, the island’s lush tropical rainforest is a haven for diverse wildlife, including wild deer, macaques, and a rich variety of bird species, making every jungle trek an adventure.
The island’s most famous terrestrial marvel is undoubtedly Mata Jitu waterfall, a multi-tiered cascade often referred to as “Queen Waterfall” due to a visit by Princess Diana in 1993. Its natural limestone pools, fed by crystal-clear spring water, offer an invigorating respite from the tropical heat, creating a serene, almost mystical bathing experience. Beyond Mata Jitu, hidden coves and dramatic cliff faces, like the Princess Diana Cliff, provide breathtaking panoramic views of the Flores Sea, serving as perfect backdrops for private moments and unforgettable photography.
