Amanwana Moyo booking guide — direct vs atelier service, deposit terms, transfers.
Practical reservation logistics for Aman’s Moyo property. Direct booking flow, common pitfalls, transfer arrangements, and where atelier service genuinely adds value.

Direct booking flow — step by step
Step 1: inquiry to amanwana@aman.com (or via the Aman Resorts website inquiry form). Response time is typically 24-48 business hours from Bali office.
Step 2: pre-screening conversation. Aman’s reservations team will ask about dates, party size, dietary preferences, and any special arrangements. They are looking to confirm fit — Amanwana is small (20 suites) and they prefer guests aligned with the property’s pace.
Step 3: rate quotation. Confirmed rate plus 21% tax and service. Minimum stay typically 4 nights; high-season minimums extend to 5-7.
Step 4: 30% deposit to confirm. Wire transfer or credit card; international bank fees apply.
Step 5: final balance 30 days before arrival. Cancellation policy graduated: full refund 60+ days out, 50% 30-60 days, no refund inside 30 days.
Where atelier service adds value
The booking flow above is fine — straightforward but slow. Where we add value:
We hold rapport with the Bali office, which compresses the inquiry-to-confirmation cycle from 5-7 days to 24-48 hours. For peak windows (June-August, December-January) this matters — Amanwana sells out 3-4 months ahead and the difference between a Tuesday-inquiry confirmation Friday vs the next Wednesday is real.
We coordinate transfers from Sumbawa Besar (SWQ) through Badas to the property. Aman provides their boat from Badas; the road transfer from SWQ requires booking directly with a vetted operator. We use the same driver each time.
We brief on dietary specifics in writing to the property kitchen ahead of arrival. Amanwana’s kitchen is excellent but their lead chef rotates; written brief reduces ambiguity for guests with allergies, religious dietary restrictions, or strong preferences (e.g., no sugar, plant-based, no shellfish).
We coordinate special arrangements — anniversary cake at the cliff, private dinner on the beach, ikat textile gift, traditional Sumbawan welcome ceremony. The property accommodates these but the lead time is 14 days minimum.
Transfer logistics — three legs
Leg 1: Bali Denpasar (DPS) to Sumbawa Besar (SWQ). Garuda Indonesia operates 1-2 daily flights. Wings Air (Lion Group) operates 1 daily. Flight time approximately 90 minutes. Book directly via Garuda or via Aman’s reservations team for assistance.
Leg 2: SWQ airport to Badas harbor. Road transfer 90 minutes. We use a vetted private driver; Amanwana can arrange this for guests at supplemental cost (~$80 per direction).
Leg 3: Badas to Moyo. Amanwana’s private boat. Approximately 60 minutes. Departure times typically 11:00 AM and 3:30 PM; for guests arriving mid-day at Sumbawa Besar the 3:30 PM departure works.
Total door-to-door: 5-6 hours from Bali. Plan a one-way arrival day; activities begin Day 2.
Three booking pitfalls we’ve seen
Pitfall 1: booking January-February for budget and not realizing it’s monsoon. The property doesn’t always volunteer this; rate cards stay similar across seasons. We push travelers toward March-November windows.
Pitfall 2: assuming on-property activity costs are included. They’re not. Diving (with house dive boat), spa, and beverages are charged separately. Budget $250-400 per couple per day for extras.
Pitfall 3: not planning return-day buffer. Amanwana’s morning departure boat is 7:30 AM; the SWQ afternoon Bali flight is typically 14:00. There is no buffer if anything delays. We schedule a 2-night Sumbawa Besar buffer for travelers connecting onwards to Komodo or Singapore.

Combined Amanwana + Komodo arc
The natural extension is Amanwana + Komodo phinisi sailing. From Sumbawa Besar there are two routes: fly to Bima (BMU), 90 minutes, ferry to Komodo Labuan Bajo. Or fly back to Bali, then onward to Labuan Bajo (LBJ). Both work; we typically use the Bali transit because flight schedules align better.
Add 4-5 days for Komodo. Read our independent Wikipedia: Komodo National Park for context. We coordinate the combined arc with three Komodo phinisi operators we vet personally.
Book Amanwana via atelier service
Reply with dates and we’ll secure availability within 48 hours. Atelier fee $1,200 per 5-day voyage; no markup on Aman rate.
Three booking pitfalls we have observed multiple times
Pitfall 1 — booking January-February for the rate without realizing it is monsoon. Amanwana doesn’t volunteer this; rate cards stay similar across seasons. Saleh Bay crossings are rougher, indoor time is forced, and the marine reserve diving conditions degrade. We push travelers toward March-November windows for first-time visits. Pitfall 2 — assuming on-property activity costs are included. They are not. Diving with the house dive boat ($150-200 per dive), spa ($120-250 per treatment), beverages ($80+ per bottle of wine, $15 per cocktail), and any photography are charged separately. Budget $250-400 per couple per day for these extras. Pitfall 3 — not planning return-day buffer. Amanwana’s morning departure boat is 7:30 AM; the Sumbawa Besar afternoon Bali flight is typically 14:00. There is no buffer for delays. We schedule a 1-2 night Sumbawa Besar buffer for travelers connecting onwards to Komodo, Bali, or Singapore. We are an independent tour curator and are not affiliated with Aman Resorts.
Beyond the resort gates: Moyo’s pristine natural wonders
The turquoise waters around Moyo Sumbawa shimmer with an almost otherworldly clarity, beckoning you into an untouched realm where luxury meets raw, pristine nature. While Amanwana provides an unparalleled sanctuary, the true magic of Moyo extends far beyond its elegant canvas tents. Moyo’s interior is a lush tropical forest, home to the legendary Mata Jitu Waterfall, a multi-tiered cascade where fresh water tumbles into serene natural pools. Here, you can swim in pools famously graced by Princess Diana, feeling truly immersed in a secluded paradise. Another gem, Diwu Mbahe Waterfall, offers a similarly refreshing escape, inviting quiet contemplation amidst the jungle’s symphony.
